Dog lake hike

Yesterday Tracy and I got up early and braved the crowds up Milcreek Canyon. We took the dogs and hiked up to dog lake. It was Aydens first time in the baby back back and he wasn't to thrilled about getting strapped into another seat but about 10 feet up the trail he went quiet and didn't make a peep the for the entire 4 hour journey. He loved it. As you can see this is us on the way up the trail and he is wide eyed and bushie tailed.
He we are up the trail about a mile and well as you can see hiking is hard work!

He we are at the lake, there were so many dogs and Tracy's dogs Dakota and Leo love to swim so Ayden had tons of fun watching them. Joylin one of the riders at the barn is a trail runner and she was up there to. Her dog Brooklyn tail lashed us in the face with a wet tail and Ayden just smiled. He is a pretty easy going baby.

Here is Ayden getting ready to have his diaper changed on the grass, it was pretty rocky underneath him but he didn't even care.

Ok and here is Tracy after about an hour of throwing the stick for her wet dogs. Lets just say her getting wet was not her option. Oh did I mention Dehle came to, she was very excited for about the first 3/4 of the hike and then just settled into the back of the line, plodding up the hill. She will get her feet wet but is not a swimmer. She enjoyed rolling around in the grass more.

The leaves were such a great color, I had to throw one scenic picture in :)

Look who's sitting up

Ayden is getting so big now...he's been working on sitting up for a few weeks and he achieved it just a few days ago, isn't he so cute. Also being 5 1/2 months old he is starting to teeth, sucking on everything, drooling and a little grouchy sometimes. Oh to be young again... I just had one sore tooth this last week and it was more than I wanted to have going on in my mouth, I can't imagine those little sucker popping through gum, ouch!!!

Gerbie is back

Now here is a funny story.... We have a gerbil that Cy bought as hawk bait when he was trying to catch Twetie, his red tail hawk. Anyways Jess and I did not want Gerbie to become lunch for Twetie (even though the rat that was bought did become lunch) so we kept him in the fish tank that Caroline gave us. He has lived there for 2 years pretty happily until the other night. I heard a small amount of noise through the baby monitor but did not think much of it until the morning when Gerbie was gone. I thought for sure the cat got him, as you can see here Coon does like to go 'fishing' but he was not dead anywhere and that is Coons favorite thing to do is put his trophies in the middle of the floor. So after a little thinking we deducted that his sawdust pile had gotten pretty big and he probably jumped out (he has been working on this trick for awhile). Anyways this morning Abby, Jess's sister was staying over and ran upstairs and asked Jess if Gerbie was white with red eyes, and of course he is.... so after about a half hour chase they caught him put him back in his fish tank... The end! (I hope).

Parelli land

Ok so we went down to Pagosa springs for the Parelli savvy conference a few weekends ago. It was me Lis, Jess, Shay and Tracy. It was a heck of a lot of fun we spent three days there learning lots of neat ideas and having fun together. I even got a break from baby which was nice but I missed the little guy. Although sleeping was a lot nicer :) I wish I could go down and live there, that would be great but we all had to come back to reality land. Bummer!

Weekend fun

Well it was our 8th anniversary on Monday so to celebrate I had all weekend off and didn't plan on doing anything except with Cy and Ayden (i know that is a big step for me I did not even go out to the barn to check on the horses). So after a good long 3 hour block of sleep on Saturday morning, thanks to Cy taking baby, we decided to go up to Alta on a hike. We tried to go to REI and buy a carrier but they did not have one although Ayden test rode in one (slobbering a little on the straps). So he got to ride in his Baby Bjorne on the hike which he enjoyed even though his legs bumped into mine while we were going up hill. He did great, we hiked for only a short while but he enjoyed it all and promptly fell asleep once we made it back to the car.

Here is Cy giving baby a big old smacker :) He loves his little boy!
So when we left the valley it was 85 degrees, however when we got up there it was 60 degrees, and dropping. I remembered all of Aydens warm clothes but forgot all of mine so I was a bit chilly, but Cy was hot as usual.
Here is Ayden and me. Ayden is wondering what the heck we are doing up here.

On Sunday we took it really easy.. After nap time we packed up the dog and went over to see Grandma and Grandpa. Once we got there we were all hungry so we went off to Chuck A Rama. When we got there Ayden was asleep and I had just made it through my salad and awake he came :) But don't worry Grandma and Grandpa were there to save Cy and I so we could eat with with both hands :) It was grandma and grandpa entertainment time. Thanks mom and dad! We enjoyed our meal.

Before we left for our meal Uncle Tys got in on the action and fed Ayden. So cute, rare brother footage there.

Time flies!!!

How fast they grow.... I haven't written anything for a week because after the blessing I got the bug that baby had so a week later I was just thinking how fast they grow. Mom always says "the trip from kids to fifty is short one". Considering Ayden is now 3 1/2 months old and I am already wondering where the time has gone I understand that statement now.

So I was browsing the 'old' pictures and came across this one. This was day three for Ayden and we just had gotten home from the hospital... not sure what to do now........
So here we are now 3 months later and look at him go. This is his bumbo seat that helps him sit up on his own, but he does not need a lot of help he is getting so strong. He even rolled over for the first time on Tuesday. Now he is getting his elbows and knees underneath him. He has gone to hating his 'belly' time to making good use of his muscles and is getting even stronger. What a short journey its been but wow does time fly.

Baby Blessing

Ok, so I am trying to get my posts up sooner than later... Lis this one is for you... See how quick...Well it was a special day today, a day that I want to remember for ever. We blessed our very cute baby boy Ayden today. It was a great thing. He was blessed by his very cute daddy, Cy, and was surrounded by family and friends during the blessing. Cy did a great job despite being a little nervous (I was too and I just had to sit there). Ayden was very quiet during the blessing which I was very thankful for since the past few days he has had a cough, a fever and a very stuffy nose and to say the least has been a little grumpy. So of course I was a proud mommy when he was a star today!

I think about how fast this past three and a half months have gone by. It amazes me everyday how one day this little baby comes into our lives and whammo your a family. Our 'little bundle of joy' has changed our lives so completely and of course he makes life just a little harder :) by getting up three times a night or crying while I am trying to feed the horses, but when he smiles and looks up at you its then that you realize that those 'hard' things just melt away and he brings us all closer together. I love it!

Here is four generations of Aydens family. Great Grandpa Johnson, Grandpa Hendricks, Dad and baby.

Here we have moms family (minus Lisa and Niels and family who are in North Carolina and Tys who took off before we had a chance to capture him on digital 'film'). Its so such a great thing to have wonderful parents as an example to follow.
Of course all of the excitement wore baby out. Here he is sitting in his swing with his new blanket that Jeral gave him. Jeral is his five year old cousin who has totted 'blankie' around with him since he was born. Jeral handed blankie off to baby Ayden so he could enjoy it just like he dad. So very nice!
